Under section 22 of the Immigration Act of 2014, landlords in England are legally obliged to obtain an identification and citizenship check.
We’d recommend engaging a professional company to do so for you. Estate Agents themselves don’t actually carry out these checks, some might but most outsource to professional referencing agencies – you can easily do that yourself!!
